Opa-Lights
The Opa Lights, are designed and built by Jack ‘Opa’ Haye every year since 2006. Ranging from 16-36 pieces these lights blend art and functionality demarcating the Man Base Pavilion at the Burning Man art Festival.
Beneath are two examples where Henry Washer was responsible for a sculpted aspect.
Chysalis Industrius 2019
24 Lamp-posts encircle the Burning Man Pavillion with a sculpted chrysalis produced out of three vaccum formed pieces riveted together forming an organic light.
Waking Dreams 2022
36 Ominous monolithic lights surround the Man Base Pavilion at the Burning Man Festival. A translucent sculpted face looks out in shock in all directions. A light illuminates inside three buttons descending down and flowers held out.
